About

I live in Austin with my lovely fianceé Paula, my son Matthias and our running dog Otis. Together with Paula, I direct Ultramaraton Fuego y Agua on Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua, an extreme race with philanthropic goals.

I grew up as a missionary kid traveling all through Mexico, Central America and the United States. Spanish was my first language and I still remember not speaking English growing up. Growing up with 12 siblings ensured I had friends around me all the time. Some of my past experiences have included living as a migrant worker, in a tent and bus, and training for ultramarathons since 12 years of age.

I now log my miles with Otis on the trails of Austin in bare feet or various types of footwear. Coaching is something that has developed out of my passion for running, I enjoy helping people get better at what I love to do. My favorite thing besides running trails is frozen yogurt and kombucha.
